Introduction to Kamikochi

Kamikochi is a grand valley at the elevation of 1,500 meters formed deep in the Northern Japan Alps, where mountains over 3,000 meters high range. Renowned in Japan for its beautiful mountainous scenery, it is designated not only as the Chubu Sangaku National Park but also as a special place of scenic beauty and a special natural monument in Japan.
As a center of the development of modern mountaineering in Japan, it is the climbing base to Yari-Hotaka Mountain Range, which attracts countless alpinists.
